It’s a cheerful, slightly scruffy bunch of flowers in a vase — the kind you’d pick from a garden rather than buy from a shop. In fact it is inspired by the flowers in my garden . The peonies are big and pink and unapologetically loud, with some yellow blooms and leafy greens thrown in like they’re jostling for space. The vase is green with white leaf patterns, a bit playful, and just for fun. The background isn’t trying to be realistic — it’s full of colour and movement, more about fun and happiness than detail. And in the corner, I have written “Peonies” in blue with a little red heart, which makes it feel personal, almost like a love note. It’s warm, happy, lively, and not trying to impress — just happy to be here.
This has an acrylic base but is finished in oil pastels. Framed in a glossy thick wavy frame……not a usual frame but I think it works on this piece because it’s just so happy.
